Slowly Does It

Slowly Does It

Well things are slowly getting easier at work, which is good news for my stress levels and I’m just managing to relax a bit more.

Christmas present shopping is nearly completed too, just a couple more to get tomorrow and the royal mail to do their job and delivery the remaining items.

Its the Maltings Christmas market on Tuesday as well, so busy getting things organised there.  I’ll be in a different location with a different table layout, I think more room!  So that will be interesting working out how to set that up on the day!

The Market, although not technical the correct date, marks 1 year of first meeting my Girlfriend! Wow, where has that year gone!  Must have enjoyed it!!

Well still got photos to print and things to sort out, so better get on with that I suppose.

Christmas is Coming!

Christmas is Coming!

Its getting to that time of year again.  People are putting up their Christmas decorations, some people since October!  Shops are getting busier. Days are getting colder and nights are getting cosier! (is that a word?)

Also the pressure of trying to get Christmas presents, either thinking of what people might like, or getting lists from people to help out.  Luckily I seem to be doing well with getting mine and have a few ideas and bought quite a bit already.  This is partially to do with an early Christmas event this year to try to get some of the family together.  Its always tricky when several families are involved.

This time of year also means Christmas Craft Fairs!

2 at the Farnham Maltings in December (6th & 16th evening) and 1 in Farnborough this Sunday.  So its a busy time!

I’ve been able to create lots of news designs too by going through my images again a picking out some that haven’t been used.  That’s the advantage of taking so many, you can always pull on new designs even when you haven’t taken many new images!

An Unexpected Trip

An Unexpected Trip

What another busy weekend.

Saturday we were up at some silly early time to get backed up and head to the Farnham Maltings market. The morning was quite busy before it slumped at lunchtime leaving a quite and slow afternoon.

The new display for the rulers worked well, and people were taking time to look at it and ask to see some of them.  I sold 2 of the new ferrari rulers and one of the new barn owl designs.

Then it was pack up, get home unpack, then jump back into the car for an unexpected trip to the IOW.

Yesterday was spent relaxing, visiting the Butterfly world, where actually I was surprised at the amount of butterflies flying around.  I didn’t expect to see many, but there was a few I hadn’t seen before.  And of course, the big Asian Atlas Moth!

Now I’ve been on the car ferry many many times, and have travelled on the ‘new’ ferry a couple of times too, but this time something unexpected happened.  We got to the ferry at 5:30 for the 6 and found we got on it straight away.  Nothing unusual, but when the person took our ticket, he put a small slip of paper under the windscreen wiper.  Strange I thought, never send that done before.  I expected another attendant to remove it at somepoint, but we drove on to the ferry and up to the second deck, using the narrow side slopes!  Parked up and still the slip was on the screen.  So on getting out the car, I thought I see what the piece of paper said.  I removed it from the screen and read it.  It said “Do not remove this piece of paper”.  Ooh, so I put it back.  At the end of the crossing it was still there so on leaving the ferry I removed it and thought, how strange!

The Ruler Stand

The Ruler Stand

As promised here is the ruler display.

Its not the best of photo unfortunately do to its size and that it was taken last night in the house with no additional lighting, but for this purpose it is good enough.

New Ruler Stand

Hopefully now I can start to review some holiday photos and maybe post some here!

A Brainwave

A Brainwave

Last week I spent some time adding new rulers images and designs, that had never been put on the website before, to the rulers pages.

and others

and more short rulers too.

This got me thinking. I have always struggled to display the rulers effectively on the craft tables and some sit in a pot which really no one actually looks though.

So my brainwave was, create a display for the rulers that could be hung or stood. Where rulers could slide into in from the sides with no extra fixing. So I have made a board approx A1 size, with beading strips to create channels to slide the rulers in. The top part of the display has a wider section to slide in vertical rulers.

This means I can now display more long rulers on the table and put around 35-40 short rulers on this display. It also allows me to show 6 long rulers aswell!

This is good, as I now have 24 design for long rulers and about 90 designs for short rulers.

When I was building this, I realised another benefit. If for example I sold a lot of rulers from the display and it looks a bit blank, I could slot in bookmarks or even mousemats using the beading to hold them in place. So the display can be quite varied. If I create a special block to slide in with hooks, I can also show some keyrings, or a magnetic strip could show fridge magnets. Its really quite useful.

It will be finished tonight and I’ll photograph it either before or during the craft fair on Saturday and show the results!

I think it was a really good idea, time will tell if is helps to sell more rulers!

Red Squirrels

Red Squirrels

After the craft fair last weekend I have decided to create some more Red Squirrel coasters & a mousemat.

I did originally have 2 designs, put I now have made this up to a set of 4.

This one is also available as a mousemat.

Maltings Xmas Craft Fair

Maltings Xmas Craft Fair

Last night was the Maltings xmas craft fair, and wow was it busy. We setup at 3pm for it to start at 5, and from about 5:30 to 9 it was solidly busy!! I hardly had time to take a breath!

I was good fun though, and I met a few people who I’ve got to know over the years at other events, and I even had quite a few people say, I yes, I’ve bought from you before, or I’ve seen you at Alton.

So, thats all the fairs now this year now, and I now need to think on how to tackle next year. I think I’m going to make a few changes, but I’m now going to have a couple of months with no fairs!

Busy Week

Busy Week

Wow, what a busy week.

Its been busy at work, busy socially and a lot going on with the photography and website.

I think I have the website sorted now, which is great!

It also looks like I have resolved my mug printing problem, and although now I am not printing them myself, I have found someone who have done some excellent samples using my mugs.  At least I can use my mug stock up! Only 400 remaining!

I have a new banner on it way for my craft fairs.  2m x 0.5m, this should be good, although another thing to set-up at the fairs but it all help in getting noticed!

Out tonight, out tomorrow and hopefully doing some xmas shopping on Sunday.  Roll on the Christmas break.  Only 13 days and counting!

A Couple of New Ruler Designs

A Couple of New Ruler Designs

After my recent trip to the IOW Zoo, I thought I’d create a new ruler design containing all the big cats. Lion, Tiger, Leopard and Cheetah.

I then thought that I’d create a new design for just spitfires.

Hopefully people will like them.
