Limited Edition Gin

Limited Edition Gin

Every year our local gin company creates a limited edition gin and some time a special edition.

This year is no exception.

Back at the end of 2022, a Special Edition Gin was created for Christmas. At the time I didn’t get to blog about it, but as I’ve just photographed a Limited Edition, it’s prompted my to show it.

The Special edition was a glittery gin with gold flakes, so I designed a glitter background to match.

Photographing a gin with glitter is more of a challenge than normal as you want to show the glitter, but of course it sinks to the bottom. So it’s a matter of timing!

For the special edition, this was shot in a style that match the previous years release. I photographed it to look ‘fresh and light’.

If you run a business in Devon and would be interested in commercial or product photography, please get in touch.

Mastectomy Confidence Photoshoot

Mastectomy Confidence Photoshoot

As part of my Body Confidence shoots, I offer sessions for people who’ve had life changing operations.

In June, I was fortunate to meet Louise, a runner who was running a virtual London marathon to promote Breast Cancer Awareness. It didn’t take her long to decide she wanted to do a shoot.

Being a runner, she wanted some of the photos to reflect this and to also represent what her mindset was like after being diagnosed and going through those difficult times.

She liked my dispersion sports portraits, so we used this idea to create an image for her.

We then started shooting along my normal body confidence style line.

Using some digital backgrounds

Then Black and White styles.

Finishing with some bodyscaping contour images.

This a just a small selection of the images from the shoot.

If you live and Devon or Cornwall and you’ve had any sort of operation from which you have scars and would like to boost your confidence, please get in touch.

All my shoots are light-hearted, fun and designed around what you would like to get from it.

Photo Editing

Photo Editing

One of the many Services I offer is photo editing.

This can range from a simple background replacement

To something a lot more complex.

I offer editing to Professional Photographers, who aren’t totally up on their editing skills (I offer tutoring for that) or editing for small businesses who just need their images tweaked for their websites.

Colour changes and composite work.

Other recent work has been fixing lighting issues in group portraits and replacing the background. Product cutout on to white background and many website image tidy-ups.

Whatever your photo editing need, please get in touch to discuss your requirements.

More Dartmoor 365ing!

More Dartmoor 365ing!

Continuing my quest for Dartmoor 365 Squares, in May we headed out out to F4, F5 and G5. Or to put it in normal language, High Down Ford, Great Links Tor and Widgery Cross.

The order as it turned out, was F4,G5,F4. As with a lot of Dartmoor it teases you and lulls you into a false sense of a ‘nice’ walk. Of course all walks on Dartmoor as ‘nice’ but some lets say, are more challenging than others.

F4, easy!

Then, ok so you want to visit G5, here is it!

The path looked straightforward and was really, but as you got further along it just got steeper and steeper.

I must add at this point. I like walking and can easily walk for hours, but I am quite ofter carrying a big heavy camera racksack on my back!

Any way, let just say, there are great views from the top and its worth the climb.

This tor is very interesting and very distinctive with the Cross on top. Created for Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee.

Turning around, we could then see Great Links Tor in the distance and as we’d ascended to a nice height of 452m, the gentle incline to 568m (see my Tor page) was easy.

This has to be one of the most interesting tor on Dartmoor. Amazing lines in the tors, gaps to look though and around and a big valley drop of on the far side.

Whilst exploring, I heard a noise and immediately recognising the sound as a helicopter, it was approaching the other side of the tor.

Running to a gap I got this great photo between the rocks.

Only having a very wide angle lens, made for difficult shooting, but I’m really pleased with how these came out.

This was a great experience, which topped off a brilliant day of exploring.

On returning home, I post these to a facebook ground, and coincidentally was commented on by an ex-military photographer, how happened to know the pilot and the photos were shown to the people on board to!

Dartmoor Tor List

Dartmoor Tor List

Over the years I’ve been visiting Dartmoor I’ve tried to always learn about the landscape and area that I’m visiting.

One of the trickiest has been identifying tors from a distance without a grid or GPS reference.

Tors photos are all well and good, but sometimes just show the tor up close.

So, I’ve decided to make my own tor list. It is not perfect and still probably won’t help everyone, but it’s still fun to create and gets me climbing tors!

Here’s a few photos from it.

This is Links Tor, shown from different angles.

This is Middle Staple Tor

The idea is some long distance and close up photos from different angles and although I can’t cover all aspects, I’ve included Grid References and What 3 Words.

It might help a few people, if not, I’ve had fun exploring them.

The list currently has 19 Tors, so a long way to go and a lot of walking too!

Cyberpunk Portraits

Cyberpunk Portraits

I like shooting interesting portraits, retro, re-enactment, cosplay, so when someone approached my with a Cyberpunk idea, I jumped at the chance.

I have to admit, my first thought was, ‘What is Cyberpunk?’ As it turned out, it was funky and purple!

This gave me some great ideas for creating some cool portraits. Very grungy, urban style.

with slight purple overtones.

and ideal for putting in my grunge style backdrops.

Using a few masks

Getting funky with colour

It even gave me an idea for a mystic version too!

With many poses and position we created a wide range of images which were both funky and fun.

If you enjoy cosplay or any style of dress-up, why not get in touch with me and we can discuss a shoot.

After nearly getting stranded with car problems on my way back from the Mini Dartmoor Workshop, I seem to have found myself with a lot of time stuck at home. Yes, the car didn’t make it.

Recently I seem to have sold quite a few of my Tennis Ball overlays. These seem to be quite popular and are available via Etsy, but weren’t shown on my website.

So, I’ve fixed that. I have completely revamped my Digital Section so show everything I offer. Still only available to but via my Etsy shop, but at least I now show everything.

The Tennis Balls as I mentioned sell quite regularly, but I also have Cricket Balls

and newly created Basketballs

I will also be adding some more soon.

Mini Workshop at Foggintor

Mini Workshop at Foggintor

As well as my studio based beginners workshops I also run on location workshop, both full day or mini.

This week I ran a mini workshop on Dartmoor. We chose the lovely location of Foggintor. Starting at the car park we headed down the path. We didn’t get far before we stopped for the view and then started the session.

These workshops are ideal for people who like the outdoors either Dartmoor or the Coast.

We cover the all the shooting modes and look at compostion and what lens to use.

Walking further down the path, the ruins start looming up in the distance giving more shooting opportunities.

This location is ideal for a mini workshop. The ground is flat and the main quarry and ruin are within a 20 minute walk.

Coupled with stopping to take photos, and the photography tutoring and discussion results and changes, make it an ideal location.

Mini workshops last approximately 2 hours and cover everything to get a better understanding of you camera.

Then, if you are just moving to shoot RAW, you come away with a batch of photos to do a follow-up Lightroom tutoring lesson.

If you want to learn more about your camera in an outdoor environment, please contact me to discuss a mini workshop.
