Year: 2014

Goodbye 2014

Goodbye 2014

So that was 2014!

What a good year!

I finally managed to make the jump from corporate IT to self employed photographer!

So it’s been great to be my own boss and not tied to someone else’s goals and targets.

We’ve increased our services and photography portfolio to include studio photography, and offer everything from Maternity and Newborn, to Family studio portraits.

In July, I did my first paid portrait for a Charity calendar.

In August, Nat and I got married!!

September – December saw lots of Kids and Business portaits and in December we did a lot of Christmas portraits, ideal for Christmas cards and presents. Look out for this again next year!

So, in closing I wish everyone a Happy New Year and look forward to all the great things we have lined up next year!

In the New Year…

In the New Year…

In 2015 we will be doing, maternity photo shoots, newborn photos, kids, & family portraits, business & profile portraits and post wedding, wedding dress shots, as well as all our other services.

If you have just got married, expecting a baby, have birthdays coming up, put us in your diary, and give us a call!

Think about Valentine’s Day surprises, or Mother’s Day, presents too.

Magician Portrait – The Results

Magician Portrait – The Results

Back in the middle of December I did a photo shoot for Ed – The Magician! It was a great shoot as previously mentioned, with lots of flying cards which made for lots of fun shots.

I got the proofs to Ed a week later and after a few days of choose we had another very happy customer!

Here are a couple of the results.

Ed was very pleased with the images and has already started using them of his website.

Magician Photo Shoot

Magician Photo Shoot

Last week I did a business portrait with a difference. It was for a local Magician!

We took most of the photos on a dark grey background and side lighting to add a more contrast style, later adding a second light for more balance images.

There was a lot of card flicking, shuffling, scattering and picking up cards, with many great shots as a result.

It was definitely a challenge to get the right poses and the cards in the right position in flight, but one I really enjoyed and of which was reflected in the images that were produced.

All in all the session lasted about 2 hours with well over 200 photos taken.

If you would like to have a business portrait or a family portrait done, please check out our portraits page.

Business Portraits

Business Portraits

Over the past few months, we have done quite a few portrait sessions, but these have all been Kids portraits, with the exception of the Specialized Calendar shoot. However, this week we have had 2 requests for business portraits. So, Friday and Monday I’ll shoot 2 business portraits, one I think quite formal and the other I think needs to be a bit more up beat. So watch this space to see what comes from them!

To see other portraits and probably these business portraits, visit my portraits page.

This is one from the 1st session.

Wedding Photo Processing

Wedding Photo Processing

In October Nat and I photographed a wedding of the daughter of my childhood best friends Aunt! Confused?

Anyway, between us we took 1000 photos, that didn’t include and speeches or evening photos, as those weren’t required.

I’ve have just spent the last few days going through the images and processing in the style we had laided out. Its quite tricky whittling them down, and maybe theres a few more I could whittle, as I’ve got it down to just over 800! But for now, I think that is fine and leave it to the happy couple to choice what they want.

So thats been a good job, now all done in time for more image processing from the next photo shoot!

Halloween Fancy Dress Photo Shoot

Halloween Fancy Dress Photo Shoot

As with most parent with young children will know, kids love to dress up at Halloween.

We had one very willing Fairy Witch wishing to show off her costume.

So I set up the studio with a bit of Halloween lighting and started taking photos.

She poses, waits for the shot, moves to a new pose and waits again! This is wonderful as I managed to get lots of great expressions. It was actually quite difficult to keep up with her!

Here is a couple.

If your Kids had a great costume, why not book them in for a quick photoshoot. Even if its not a Halloween costume, make a booking and get some memorable photos!

Happy 60th Routemaster

Happy 60th Routemaster

The World Famous red bus of London, the Routemaster is 60 years old today!

The prototype was designed in 1954, with the last one being delivered in 1968.

Despite now being 60, the routemaster can still be seen on Heritage routes in London, and after what looked like its demise with the ‘bendy buses’ the Routemaster is still running the London roads in the shape of the New Routemaster!

why not celebrate by buying one of our mousemats displaying the Routemaster from our etsy shop.

New Studio Setup

New Studio Setup

We have spent the last week clearing out the studio and refitting it with different background and lighting systems.

The changes should now make it easier for us to change backgrounds, adjust lights and move lights around. But probably most importantly, it has given us more room and enabled us to use a wider backdrop. This should give us more flexibility and great options for changing setups. We are now going to try and make some more creative backgrounds and setups for more vintage style photos!

A Photoshoot with a Difference

A Photoshoot with a Difference

Today was the day of the big photoshoot, 3 setups, all very different, with some unusual props, and no props at all!

I’d also bought a very cool backdrop, which when I tested during the week showed great potential! It didn’t disappoint, I think it gave some great results, coupled with some creative lighting has given some cool images!

When everything is approved and released I’ll post a couple!
