A New Range

A New Range

A new product arrived in the post this week, so I have been busy creating new designs for it. They are double sided metal keyrings.

I am trying to use different images in these over the standard acrylic range to keep them looking different, plus they are a different crop.

I need to work out how to list them on my website as I would like people to have the option to choose which image they would like in each side, put this will take some work.

In Search of Steam

In Search of Steam

The other week we had planned to go in search of steam engines, but we found out that our plans were foiled by a lack of babysitters, but today we were sorted!

The day started off foggy, which meant there would be some nice steam coming from the engines if we could find them! We got to Alresford and headed to the station. The platform was busy, the sign said trains at 11:45, it was 11:50! I heard the platform master say the train had stawled, how does a steam train stawl? and it was being towed by the other and they didn’t know how long it would be.

So, armed with the informtion that we had some time, we headed off to find a better view point along the track. Following train tracks is not easy and alway possible, so walking pararrel to the track along the road I kept an ear open for the train and an eye open for a footpath.

30 minutes later I found a footpath around the edge of a farmers field, just past a bridge that the track went over. We found the track! I could see the signal too and noted it was in the stop position. We waited… 15 mintues later the signal changed, 5 minutes after that the train came by!

I braced myself and took photos until the buffer filled up. We then headed off for something to eat with the knowledge that we had some photos and hoped they were good.

Here is one I have processed and am showing it in a mousemat! I’m very pleased with the result!

Keyring Page Revamped!

Keyring Page Revamped!

Its taken me all week, but I have updated the whole of the Keyring page in my site.

It now has more keyrings than before, nearly 100 and they can all be bought via paypal. Plus, each image has been recreated so that, if you have a retina display, like the ipad 3 an above, they look lovely and crisp.

Is your bunch of keys in need of a new keyring?….

Pinterest Day

Pinterest Day

Yesterday was a Pinterest day! If you haven’t seen Pinterest it’s well worth a visit. It’s like a big pin board of images for all the interesting things you find on the web!

I’d set an account up a while back and put a few bits on it, LeoPhotography on Pinterest and yesterday morning, for some reason, opened Pinterest and got hooked again. There are so many interesting accounts and streams on there that you get carried away with it. So I started pinning again, sorting out my boards, browsing streams and following people.

I thought I’d create a specific board for my work, and tried to pin some of my coasters and mousemats, but this didn’t work very well. I think the way I’ve created the gift pages, means it only pins the small thumbnails and then stretches them. The large photo retina images pin ok, but the ruler page doesn’t show any thing to pin. Maybe it’s a size thing? Also, the way I’ve designed the galleries means those images won’t pin either! I’ve put a couple on there, so maybe that’s all I can do.

Anyway, Pinterest is worth a visit.

I think today could be an eBay day.

Aldershot Military Museum

Aldershot Military Museum

After having a week of being stuck in the house and having cream put in my scratched eye, it was great to get out the house.

We'd decided to visit the Aldershot Military Museum. It was local and with everything we are working on at the moment, very relevant.

The museum is housed in 2 old barrack buildings in the north camp. It shows the history of the British army and how it came to be in Aldershot, initially as a training camp and then a permanent base, to eventually becoming the home of the British army in 1954.

The history told how Farnborough was a small village, very much based around the North Camp area, with Alexandra Rd, being its centre and very much the place to be!

It takes you through the Army times in Aldershot right up to present day and has a range of artifacts to real vehicles and artillary.

I had hoped to get some more army vehicle photos as they have quite a few tanks and APCs there, but the views were not easy, coupled with modern backdrops around the tanks, I struggled to get anything useable.

So, after a lot of processing and discarding, I reprocessed one photo and made it black and white.
