Year: 2011

That's just about it…

That's just about it…

…for 2011
What a busy month and tiring stressful year.

At least now things will be moving again on the extension in January.

Lots still to work on with the website. Today I’ve updated some of the mousemat pages in the new format and I’ll continue with the other pages in the new year.

I’ll also be doing more web development and hope to increase blog and twitter posts too!

So lots planned, let’s see how I do.

New Telephone Number

New Telephone Number

Please note, due to BT now charging to have an 0845 number, I have had to change my telephone number.  It should happen the 1st December but it apparently already cut!

I had the option of using an 0844 number, but some people don’t like those number so have decided to use my long running mobile number.

This is the new number and will be on future product.  All existing product would have the old number on it, so please use the email instead.

Thank you.

Spitfire Namer Passes Away in October

Spitfire Namer Passes Away in October

I read about this on the BBC website…

“If it had not been for Annie Penrose, RAF pilots might have found themselves piloting Shrews rather than Spitfires in the Battle of Britain. Her father, Sir Robert McLean, was chairman of Vickers between the wars and worked closely with R J Mitchell who was designing a new single-seater fighter. Mitchell had wanted to call the new plane the Shrew but McLean insisted it was called the Spitfire, the nickname he had bestowed on his somewhat headstrong daughter. After opposition from the Air Ministry he finally got his way. Annie, who was born in India, went on to marry the actor Robert Newton before his drinking and womanising led to divorce. She later married Beakus Penrose and became the chatelaine of the Killiow Estate in Cornwall which she ran well into her 80s.” – taken from BBC website

New, Updated & Refreshed

New, Updated & Refreshed

I’ve updated the index page (entrance page to my site) now to include updates from my twitter feed and excerpts from my blog (which could be how you got here!). So to see the lastest info from Lee Orchard Photography, all you have to do is open Leophotography.com!

I’ve also finally changed the homepage of the site. The old design hadn’t really changed in about 8 years, so it was time to refresh it! Hopefully now it is clearer to use, nicer to look at and you get updates from my flickr gallery too! All the links from the old page still exist, except 2, equipment and about the website. The other links have been moved either to the entrance page, or made normal links on the gallery page.

Now all I have to do to combine the Scandinavia Gallery and Europe Gallery into one design. I’m still trying to figure out how I want the rest of the site to look like.

Now Buy Online

Now Buy Online

Finally, after many years, you can now buy a selection of my craft items online via the HomeFrontHistory.co.uk web site. Lee Orchard Photography on HomeFrontHistory

There are many new items too, as of posting, not seen at any previous craft fairs!

Now I have learnt how to build in paypal into the homefronthistory website, I’ll be adding it to my site at some point.

I hope you enjoy the new select and the HFH site if you haven’t seen it

A Hidden Treasure

A Hidden Treasure

This is one of those places that when you find them you just think wow.  This place isn’t too easy to access and not in the beat and track for the tourist, there is no signs to it and no car parks.  We discovered this place on someone flickr photos a few years ago and went in search of it.

This is one of the many photos when took when we visited it a few years ago, and I’ve given it a sepia and selenium filter via topaz labs black & white.

Black and White

Black and White

Things are still frantic!! We are so near to starting the extension on the house, its great! Still got many other things on the go too! TheFlyingDucks.co.uk website is completed and another about to start!

Also I’ve been playing with the new Topaz Lab plugin, Black and White. Here is one of the images I’ve created!

A Red Arrows Loss

A Red Arrows Loss

These guys & girls are amazing pilots and bring so much joy to thousands of people. It is so sad to hear of a loss of a Red Arrow. They are always a thrill to see.

Lets hope they fly again soon, and we remember the fallen.

More New Websites

More New Websites

TheFlyingDucks.co.uk website is now live! It just requires a few extra tweaks and gallery pages to be added!

This has been a fun site to bulid, a fun topic and fun people to work with!

Nat has decided that her photography website isn’t how she would like it anymore so has come up with a new design.

There are a couple of challenges in it, one being the gallery navigation, but after quite a few hours of working it out and implementing new bits into it, it is working! So watch this space. I’ll post a link to it soon.

Milestones – Revisited

Milestones – Revisited

A few years ago now, hmm, actually, about 5 years ago, I went to a place in Basingstoke called Milestones. It was a nice day out at a very interesting place.
Anyway, as I had some time off this week and the weather hasn’t been brilliant, I thought it would be good to have a nice family trip there.
This place is very interesting, it like a town from bygone times, all recreated inside a big hanger. There are buildings, shops vehicles and period dressed people from the late 1800s to 1960s. Its a great place.
Ashleigh, enjoyed walking all round the roads and look in all the shops. She loved the Teddy Bear shop!

There are lots of photo opportunities and it is great to see things from the 40’s and 50’s as we are currently building 2 websites from those periods. (homefronthistory.co.uk & theflyingducks.co.uk) the latter is not live at time of posting.

I couldnt make up my mine which photo  to post, so I’ve put both!

Still Needed a Goodwood Fix!

Still Needed a Goodwood Fix!

As I couldn’t get to Goodwood this year, I needed a goodwood fix!  So I raided the archives and found this.  I was very dark to start with, so I put it through photomatix, then made it black and I.  I like the result!
