HDRs get Grunged!

Now that I’m getting a few more HDR images, I’m starting to play around with them a little. Just to try something different and see what the results are. I have recently learnt a new technique to ‘grunge’ the HDR image and produce almost a painting effect finish.

This is one of the results.

Farnham Grunged!

The sky has gone a little dark, but as its a grunged shot, I don’t mind giving it a bit of a tweak to correct it.

I think the result is quite good, and I think I’ll be trying some more soon. What do you think?

A Springs Walk at Fleet Pond

On Sunday we went for a walk around Fleet Pond. This is a nice place and I’ve been there many many times. However in the spring and late autumn when the sun is low in the sky, you can always be guaranteed some lovely warm evening images. Sunday was no exception, and being inspired by a shot my Girlfriend took, I tried a similar thing.

She had got, what looked like an interest shot of a swan in the top of the image, and a nice soft sun reflection and gentle ripples on the water.

Having a long lens and the fact the Swans were approaching at quite a rate, meant it would be different, but still worth a try.

Golden Swan

I have a couple of versions of this and although the Swan reflection isn’t ideal, it was the best of the batch.

An Old Image Transformed

A few years ago at the Dunsfold airshow, I took a shot that I really liked, but I never did anything with it.

As now I have been playing around with HDR, I revisited the photo to see what I could do.

Even though it was a jpeg and not a raw, I manage to create this image from 5 bracketed image. I was amazed at the result and really pleased with the image that was good but now I think is extra special.

Busy Time

Ok, its been a while since my last entry.  I’ve been busy!

Firstly a couple of weeks ago we attended the Focus show in Birmingham.  As it was a long trip we stayed up there again and visited an NT place on the Saturday.  Charlecote Park, was a really nice old house and gate house, that had a nice thatched summer house too!  Also in the grounds was a deer park, which I didn’t realise as I didn’t bring the big lens with me.  What a shame as we could get quite close, but not close enough with the lens we had.
On the Sunday was the Focus fair.  This is a very big photographic event taking up 2 halls at the NEC.  Luckily we had pre-registered to miss out on the queues, but Nat’s ticket hadn’t turned up in the post, so we still had to queue for about 20mins to get hers.  At least it was the very very long queue, for non registered people!

Last weekend was a relaxing Saturday, but on the Sunday we did another wedding fair, this time in Viables Craft Centre in Basingstoke.  On arrival it looked empty and we thought we had the wrong place, there were no signs up and nothing saying wedding fair.  The place looked familiar though and I remembered I’d been there for a meal 3 years ago!

The fair was very small with only 8 stands and 2 of those where photographers!  It was a little disappointing and it wasn’t very busy.  You can never tell though, only time will tell if we get any thing from it.
