Wisley Gardens & Butterflies

Wisley gardens have had a butterfly display on for the last few weeks, so we thought we would visit it and try and take some photos.

The location of the butterflies was in the glass house, in the tropical section. And yes it it tropical in there! Very humid! We had to keep the cameras in the bags for 10mins while they acclimatised. After it was fine and we could take photos as normal.

As it was hot and humid though, the butterflies didn’t stay still for long. I was trying to take a photo of a lovely green one and I heard some talking about one above it on a flower. I moved the camera up and this is what I saw!

Afterwards, outside, we walked towards the cafe and saw some strange colourful twigs, and they made from some interesting abstract shots.

Still Pently of Snow!

Today was the first day in the last week that I have managed to get the car out of the driveway and actually go somewhere.

I had to spend about half an hour this morning chipping the ice of the path and road though, to give me a fighting chance of not just reversing and getting stuck like before.

The roads are of course very clear but the side roads are still bad as was my road.  The problem is I live on a hill and as my car does seem to like the snow at all, being automatic, rear wheel drive and wide tyres it is just all against it!

I got to Farnham ok this morning but the car park was still a bit dodgy.

Returning home later in the day, the sun was still out and it was really nice.  Driving up the hill I saw just how much show is still around in the fields, so decided to walk back with my camera.

This was one of the images I got.

Stuck

Yesterday I thought I’d attempt to get into the office today as my boss is here from Germany.

I cleared the car of snow, reversed out the drive, put it in drive to go forward, nothing! The wheels just spun and I sat there blocking the road and going nowhere having made it 1 metre out of my drive!

Being automatic the wheels were just rotating and I wasnt moving.

Even with 4 people pushing, all that happened was the car slid sideways to be parked half on the curb where it is shown.

Stuck!

How frustrating.

The ironic thing is, in the evening and with most of the snow in the road gone, it still took me 20mins to just about get it back in the drive.

An Interesting Discovery

Friday we walked along a bit of the Basingstoke canal which I hadn’t visited before.

I’d seen on a map there were a few pillboxes and tank traps built during WWII in the event of a Gernan invasion.

These pillboxes have been left in place as points of interest for future generations to visit.

Although there where interesting, there wasn’t anything worth photographing.  It wasn’t until we were walking in the other direction returning to the car that I saw this view.

I loved the colours and camoflague.

I must have taken about 20 photos of this from varying distances, but I really liked the reflection on this one.

2 mintues later 3 canoists rowling past spoiling the reflection. Sometimes you just have luck on your side!
