Poor Laptop

Poor Laptop

My lovely laptop I bought 2 years ago, seems to have given up all of a sudden.

Last year the wireless just stopped, and I tried everything to get it working.  When I read up on the web about it, it was said that this tends to happen with that model and then the graphic card and pc just stops.  Well thats what happened yesterday!

At the weekend the laptop froze and I had to do a hard reboot, then yesterday it did the same thing and now just wont start.  The lights flicker, the fans whirs and thats it, then it restarts and does the same again.

Oh dear, so it looks like I need a new laptop.  I liked the old one.

Lunchtime walks

Lunchtime walks

As the last couple of days have been so nice at lunchtime I’ve grabbed the camera and headed towards the nearest piece of woodlands to try and get a few photos and I haven’t been disappointed!

Yesterday I was lucky enough to find a Goldcrest, which was happy enough jumping around the trees next to where I was standing.  In the past I haven’t had much luck finding or even photographing them.  Firstly they are the UK smallest bird, which makes them difficult to find and then they just don’t stand still and normally fly away!!  Not this time, at one point it was only about a 1 metre away at eye level.   So I’ve managed to get some nice photos of it!

Then today I got a nice photo of a blackbird

So what with the Fox at the weekend and the Goldcrest today, its a good start to a new year for my wildlife photography!

A Rainy Weekend, Not!

A Rainy Weekend, Not!

This weekend we had planned to do some studio product photography as it was meant to rain, a lot!

We thought it would be a good idea to try photographing jewellery & watches. I haven’t done too much still life and never attempted product photography, IE photographing an item for a catalogue or website.

Ok, the results weren’t really anything unique or different, but I was very pleased with the them and they showed a good detailed image of the product.

After we had photographed all my watches, I then decided to start photographing my old cameras. The first one I attempted was my 1936 Leica replica.

I was immediately pleased with my results so only had to taken about 6 shots, just to make sure I’d got it pin sharp!

This was all really enjoyable and good fun.

The problem was, that actually it only rained at night and not during day so the weather was really good!

To get some fresh air we headed out to Farnham Park and I got a nice photo of a Fox!

A Very Frosty Day

A Very Frosty Day

Wow, wasn’t the frost magnificent on Saturday. It was amazing it stayed around for so long! In a lot of places it looked like snow, but it wasn’t. If like myself you took a close look the formation of the frost crystals was incredible, the best I’d ever seen. Each frost spike was about 10mm long.

Its wasn’t a surprise it was so cold, about -4. We spent a few hours visiting different places and taking photos.

After a several hours out, we headed home for some food and warmth, before then going out again to Farnham Park, in search of the elusive shot that you knew would just make it worth it.

This was one such shot.

Now it was time to head for home, and this time stay in and look through the photos!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

Well Happy New Year to everyone.  Sorry it is a bit late, its the first chance I’ve had to write in my Blog this year, although I don’t really have an excuse.  Yesterday was so cold we decided to stay inside all day!

Saying that, we had braved it the day before and stayed out until sunset taking photos.

We visited a place near Winchester and walked some of the Southdowns way.  A very short bit, it was cold!

I got a couple of nice photos from the sunset and some of a few horses grazing in the field near the car park.

Here are a couple of HDR images that I created from the walk.

So yesterday wasn’t wasted as it gave us time to process these and other images from the walk.  Shows how cold it was though as it actually snowed today!
