A Winters Walk

A Winters Walk

The last few days have been pretty cold and I’ve kept myself in the warm not really wanting to brave the weather. However, today was so nice, with the frost and clear skies, that I was persaded to venture out.

So, after a brief thought on where to go, I headed off to Frensham Ponds all wrapped up in my outdoor gear. As it happened, it wasn’t quite as cold as I expected so it was very pleasant.

The pond was frozen though, thick enough for a some ‘mad’ people to go an walk on it. It did actually hold their weight.

So what did I see. Well, I saw a few Robins of course.

and the back of a Jay as it flew away. I also saw a couple of Bullfinches, which is quite rare these day and I was lucky enough to find a Gold Crest. Being europes smallest bird, they are very difficult to see and even more difficult to photograph!

It was a lovely day to walk around the ponds and I was glad I made the effort

At the end of the walk, the sun was really warming up the sky, and I was very pleased with this image!

Maltings Xmas Craft Fair

Maltings Xmas Craft Fair

Last night was the Maltings xmas craft fair, and wow was it busy. We setup at 3pm for it to start at 5, and from about 5:30 to 9 it was solidly busy!! I hardly had time to take a breath!

I was good fun though, and I met a few people who I’ve got to know over the years at other events, and I even had quite a few people say, I yes, I’ve bought from you before, or I’ve seen you at Alton.

So, thats all the fairs now this year now, and I now need to think on how to tackle next year. I think I’m going to make a few changes, but I’m now going to have a couple of months with no fairs!

The Universe

The Universe

The other day I came across an interesting programme in History channel.  Its was called The Universe and the first one I saw was about Saturn,  I knew Saturn had a lot of Moons, but it actually has 48 and Jupiter has 62!

Anyway, in the programme about Saturn there was a person talking about different aspects of the planet and the caption with his name mentioned the website http://www.livescience.com, so I looked it up.  What an interesting site.  It worth a visit if you are into those types of things.  It also mentioned a potential treatment for diabetics in the form of a new type of ‘tatoo’ instead of injecting.  All interesting stuff.  I’ll definately look at that site again!
