The Unexpected

I thought as it was a nice day again I’d pop out for a walk.

Where should I go, just to the local shop, or head towards the pond. Then should I go through the woodland or across the meadow.

So I choose to head towards the pond across the meadow and well this just proves my point that you should always have a camera, even a compact camera on you as you never know what you are going to see.

Walking across the meadow I saw a bird or prey flying over, then realised the man in front was the person flying it.

It was a cross between a Peregrine Falcon & a Merlin.

Wow, it was lovely to see the bird so close up and get to talk to someone about it.  Thank you.

A Few Days on the IOW

As I had last week as holiday I decided to visit the IOW for a few days.

I’ve only been there a few times of the past 2 years and its funny but I now always remember in May 06 visiting an area where Oyster Catchers were meant to be. At the time I didn’t see any, but walked along this really rickety pontoon to take photos of some Common Terns. (image) But what I always remember is me being on the phone to someone whilst taking these photos, and walking back to the car and nearly getting run down by a fast moving, very playful dog! The person on the phone thought it was very funny!! :-)

This time I did manage to get some photos of Oyster Catchers, a Black Tailed Godwit and a White Egret. All on the beach, 5 minute from where I was staying! That was the only photos I took!

An Other Lovely Weekend

Well what a lovely weekend.

From a lovely unexpected & enjoyable friday evening to the excellent sunny weather.

Despite my plans for Saturday and Sunday not being what I had planned, I still managed to get out and about to enjoy the weather.

On Saturday I went to Wellington Country Park and had a walk around the lake. I was hoping to see some Deer, but the Deer park was closed. I ended up seeing a few Fly Agaric mushrooms, which are alway difficult to find undamaged.

A Single Fly Agaric

Then I found this!

A Family of Agarics!

Very surprised, as you dont normal see more the 3 or 4 and they are normally broken and eaten!

Yesterday I stayed locally again and visited Birdworld. I got a couple of nice photos, but this one I was over the moon with!
