Forecast: A Bright and Sunny Weekend

Its been a tricky week with one thing and another, but it looks like it is going to be a good weekend.

As I have been ill, I haven’t felt like seeing anyone, or doing much, so tomorrow I get to see my Lovely Girlfriend and spend some time together. Hopefully also on Sunday we can go and do some shopping and spend the day together.  I’m looking forward to it!

Just when everything is good …

… BANG!!

Things start to go wrong.

This week I have been off ill, still wasn’t feeling good and hadn’t managed to shake it off.  Probably a few late nights, ignoring I wasn’t feeling good, trying to work through it, it all just caught up with me.

Then, to add to that, when trying to get a new flash drive working on my PC, I have managed to kill all my USB ports.  This means, I cant, print, upload photos, access the internet, use the mouse, use the flash drive.  So basically, I have a working PC, but can’t do anything with it, and currently can’t find a solution.

This also means I can’t do any craft stuff either.  We seem to be very reliant on USB ports these days.

To add to things, especially as I was off ill, my Sky viewing card decided not to work anymore.  I can view BBC 1, 2, BBC HD (fat lot of use that is at the moment!), & ITV.  So, I thought, ok, I’ll watch some films I’d recorded on Sky HD box.  Nope, apparently that uses the card as well!

When will BBC HD broadcast more programmes, and not just from 6pm.  Planet Earth is brillant, but how many times can you watch it.  What happened to Big Cat or even Big Bear week in HD?  Come on BBC!

Damn, what a week!

A Super Weekend

Well what a super weekend!

Despite feeling under the weather for the past few days, I have had a very busy and enjoyable weekend.

Firstly there was the party on Saturday.  That seemed to go down really well with everyone.  All the guests seemed to enjoy themselves and it went on till midnight.  I got to see some friends who I hadn’t seen in quite a while. Some of my friends brought their children, who, despite being well behaved, did some to enjoy playing with the gravel around edge of the patio and spreading it over the grass!  Oh, well.  They did seem to enjoy playstation on the big TV.

The weather on Saturday was a bit cooler than earlier in the week and the rain held off, which meant we could make full use of the garden which was great.  We also had the bonus of a couple of Spitfire circling over head from the Farnborough Airshow.  The new compact camera performed well and I was quite pleased with the results.

It was a very enjoyable day but very tiring.

Sunday.  Unfortunately, I was very worn out after the previous few days, and still not feeling 100% I spent most of the day tidying and relaxing watching the TV. So, sadly I missed out on spending the day with J. We did have a nice evening though and make it to the cinema to see Superman Returns.

So, what did I think of it?  I went with quite low expectations, as the clips on the TV I has seen made it look very CGI orientated.  I was wrong.  Although I didnt think it was as good as the originals 1 & 2, I did enjoy it, and thought they had done it well.  The unexplained absence to Supeman on earth for several years, whilst in search of Krypton, did remain unexplained.  Marlon Brandon was good, for obvious reasons. I think they kept it inline with the orginal films, but wasnt Martha Kent quite old when Clark left to build his fortress, then wasnt he gone for 12 years?  So how old is she?  Where did he get his spaceship from as well!?

Despite enjoying it, it did seem to be a bit predictable, catch this, catch that, fly with Lois, and you always knew he was going to get there to save the day.  I know, thats the point! The world needs a hero.

Whats going on…

… with the weather?  At the moment is just seems to be getting hotter every day.  On Wednesday we had record tempertures, and the nights are just as hot and muggy as well.

Last night was so hot and sweaty that is just took ages to get to sleep!  The problem is, that the weather seems to have gone from being quite cold for the time of year, to record tempertures.  These tempertures are rivalling the Med.  We are just not set up for that type of weather.  We dont have air conditioning in our homes or hotels and are very lucky if we have it at work.

Some people have to work in tempertures of 93 degrees with no aircon.  My heart goes out to them.

I have had the day off today preparing for a party tomorrow, so spent some time food shopping this morning then working in the garden this afternoon.  It was just too hot though.  You are constantly have to change clothes or shower to cool done.  This doesnt help with the drought we are in.

Also, to make matters worse, I had filled the fridge with the food and drink I have bought for the party, and tonight I noticed it was very quite.  I thik the fridge had got fed up with the heat as well and gone on strike.  Luckily nearby relations could help out, so I removed most of the food to their fridge.  Then 10 mins later, my fridge worked again!  I think is got lazy and is only used to a few items in it!!
